Five Tips For Local Businesses Looking To Use Twitter

by Carol on May 20, 2009

Can’t quite figure out how to use Twitter for your local business. Abbey Klassen explores two examples on this Advertising Age blog post.

The key is MEASUREMENT. No matter what marketing technique you intend to use, make sure you’re measuring results (otherwise, how else will you know whether it works or not?)

Make sure you scan the comments of the blog post, too – there are some good nuggets of information hidden there:

Twitter Proves Its Worth as a Killer App for Local Businesses – Advertising Age – Digital.

(BTW- Is it just me, or are products that are very time sensitive that won’t last past a sell-by date (such as food or theater performances) best placed to take advantage of Twitter? What do you think?)

I think you are right: products that are very time sensitive that won’t last past a sell-by date (such as food or theater performances) best placed to take advantage of Twitter?
It brought to mind asvertising space. When I published or worked in ad sales, once the deadline comes, if you didn’t sell the space, it was lost revenue. I think deadline ad specials would work. Imagine if you could get ad space in a suitable magazine for 25% of the original cost…. EVERYBODY WINS!!!
