Social media advertising strategy: six profiles you must have

Wondering where to start with Social Media? Heather Lutze in today’s TechJournal South suggests 6 social media sites where businesses can get the most bang for their virtual buck by posting a profile.

However, I would offer a word of caution: make sure these sites fit in with your company’s social media strategy. You might not want to implement all six of these profiles, and one done well is better than six done badly.

Also, if you are focusing more on building community through a blend of offline and online strategies, and much of your business is coming from very local channels, some of these tools may be less useful than others. Why? Getting a high ranking in a Google search for your chosen keywords may not be as important as driving customers to your site through other means (e.g., PR, offline marketing strategies, events, good content on your site, etc.)
