This is a great example of how video can be used to inspire conversation, build community, have fun, sell a product and promote a brand. Sony is new in the charts, coming in at number 10 with “Twilight Football” – a video clip mashing a pick-up football game and a bullfight.
They wanted to, and they got it: having viewers ask, “how (and why) did they do that???!!”
The link at the end of the Sony clip brings you to Twilightfootball.net. Twilightfootball.net was created by Sony to promote a world wide event – a football competition set to begin on September 22 in 7 stunning locations around the world at dusk. The competition is challenging for the contestants – both for the footballers, but more importantly, the photographers who will be faced with very difficult low-lighting situations and tasked with using Sony’s low lighting filming technology to capture breathtaking images.
Makes you think as a small business owner: what kind of digital event can you create like this to promote your product?
How about:
- Simultaneous virtual wine tastings of your award winning vintage held in exotic locations (or, even locations around Lake County) Invite people from all around the world take part and give prizes for the best videos.
- A day in the life of Lake County – have business owners and the public carry around their cameras and film their lives for a day. Post the videos on a dedicated site, sponsored by local business owners who sell their products from the site through ads. Award prizes to the best clips at a physical ceremony.
- Host a series of cooking class at your kitchen supply store, featuring a celebrity (or, local celebrity) chef. Allow members of the public to participate. Film the classes and post on a special site, along with links to special offers and coupons at your store.
There’s no limit to what your imagination can create. Have Fun!
