How to Join the Lake County Chamber of Commerce on Twitter and Facebook

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce has gone social! Join us on Facebook and Twitter to keep abreast of up-to-the minute and time-sensitive information about what’s going on with the Chamber and Lake County Chamber members.

Are you new to Twitter and Facebook and wondering how to join us? Here are a few steps to get you started:
(Please leave me a comment below with any challenges you may have with any of my instructions. )

Joining the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page:

  1. Go to Facebook and sign up for an account. Follow the step by step instructions given. You don’t need to post a profile picture right away, but it certainly helps create an identity and get you known quickly.
  2. Once you’ve joined, type “Lake County Chamber of Commerce” in the search box in the upper right hand corner of your screen and hit <Enter> (see (1.) below).You’ll then be taken to your search results, which should look something like the picture below. If not, look for “Lake County Chamber of Commerce” in your search results in the section titled “Pages” (1A) .Once you’ve found the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Page, click on the “Become a Fan” link to join  (2.). To get to the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Page, click on the name (3.) [You’ll note there’s a Facebook Group called “Lake County Chamber of Commerce Members” (4.) Do NOT join this – we’re trying to consolidate all Lake County Chamber of Commerce stuff in one place:

  3. If you are out of time, go right to step 5. below.Still with me? Great! Next step: when you get to the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Page, it will look something like the image below. To get started, click on the “Discussions” tab bar (1.):

  4. Introduce yourself by clicking on the discussion “START HERE: Introduce Yourself” (1). And, if you’re feeling especially adventurous, ask the rest of us for some help on a business challenge you’re facing or share with us some cool information that’s really helped your business grow by joining the discussion “Have a Problem? Solve a Problem!” (2).

    After you’ve clicked on one of the discussions above – to post, enter your comments in the reply box (1.). To return to the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Page, click on “Back to the Lake County Chamber of Commerce” link at the top of the page (2.)

  5. If you’re not on the Lake County Chamber of Commerce home page, get to it by clicking the “Wall” tab:

  6. Share this page with your Lake County business friends who would get value from joining us  (1.) and save this page to your favorites (2.)

Joining the Lake County Chamber on Twitter:

  1. Go to http://twitter.com/LakeCoChamber. If you’re not a Twitter member, sign up (1.). If you are, log in (2.):

  2. Select “Follow” (1.). You’ll then see “LakeCoChamber” in your Twitter stream:

  3. I wasn’t planning on going into a whole discussion here on how to use Twitter. Just briefly, though, I like using a third party Twitter application to manage my Twitter streams – Tweetdeck. If you want to know more about TweetDeck and using Twitter, please comment below and I’ll answer your comment with a post.
